Supervising enrollment in network tokenization programs
The Network tokenization tab allows to know the enrollment status in network tokenization programs.
It is accessible via Management > Companies menu > Network tokenization tab.
Network tokenization is a rule introduced by the Visa and Mastercard card networks.
Tokenization is used in the following cases:
- Payment by token;
This use case also applies to payment by subscription and payment by file exchange.
- Installment payment;
- Payment upon shipment.
The principle is simple:
- At the end of a payment, the payment gateway creates the token and submits a tokenization request to the card network, transmitting the card data. The token remains valid independently of the network tokenization process.
- The card network creates the network token. It then sends it to the payment gateway, which registers it.
This network tokenization stage is entirely managed by the payment gateway. The merchant has no technical modifications to make.
